There are a variety of new Pokémon and variant forms that were introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Some of the Pokémon are evolutions of existing ones, such as Ursaluna evolving from Ursaring. Teddiursa and Ursaring don't have a new Hisuian form, but there's still a new Pokémon in the evolution line. Other Pokémon have Hisuian evolutions rather than completely new forms, like the three starters in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Different forms of Pokémon started with the Alola versions, and Pokémon Legends: Arceus introduced Hisuian forms. Unlike Shiny Pokémon, different forms usually change more than the color scheme. Hisuian Pokémon forms generally have an additional or different type than the original Pokémon. This means that the Hisuian Pokémon will have alternative move pools and different strengths and weaknesses in battle.

How Many Hisuian Forms Arceus Has

Every Hisuian Form In Pokémon Legends: Arceus (1)

Pokémon Legends: Arceus includes 17 Hisuian forms, some of which evolve into entirely new Pokémon. For example, Hisuian Basculin evolves into Basculegion, one of the rides in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The Hisuian forms vary in appearance from having a few noticeable alterations to looking like completely different Pokémon. Since these new forms are native to Hisui, most of them can't be caught in their original form in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Hisuian Starter Evolutions

Every Hisuian Form In Pokémon Legends: Arceus (2)

The third evolution for each of the starters in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a Hisuian Pokémon. Rowlett evolves into Decidueye, a Grass- and Fighting-type Pokémon. Hisuian Decidueye's appearance changes in Pokémon Legends: Arceus from green and orange feathers to red and yellow. Typhlosion, which evolves from Cyndaquil, trades its red fire ring for a purple one and becomes a Fire- and Ghost-type in its Hisuian form.

Oshawott evolves into Hisuian Samurott who has a darker color scheme. Hisuian Samurott is a Water- and Dark-type Pokémon. Each of the starter Hisuian evolutions adds new moves to their available pool of attacks. Although only one starter can be chosen, players can collect all three Hisuian evolutions by catching the other two starters in Space-Time Distortions or getting them from Laventon at the end of the game.

Hisuian Voltorb & Electrode

The Hisuian versions of Voltorb and Electrode in Pokémon Legends: Arceus change in appearance from their original forms to more closely resemble the Poké Balls in Hisui. Voltorb has a wooden base that swaps with the dark red half when evolved into Electrode. Hisuian Voltorb and Electrode are both uniquely Grass- and Electric-type, a combination previously seen in only the Mow form of Rotom. Hisuian Voltorb can be caught in Coronet Highlands and it can be evolved into Hisuian Electrode using a Leaf Stone.

Hisuian Growlithe & Arcanine

Every Hisuian Form In Pokémon Legends: Arceus (4)

Players are first introduced to Hisuian Growlithe after arriving in Cobalt Coastlands. Both Hisuian Growlithe and Arcanine are involved in the main story for Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but they can also be added to a player's collection. Hisuian Growlithe can be found in Cobalt Coastlands and it will evolve into Hisuian Arcanine using a Fire Stone.

The darker orange color and the earthy tones around Hisuian Arcanine's face point to the new Fire- and Rock-type for these Pokémon. Both Hisuian Growlithe and Arcanine also have Shiny versions as well. However, not all Hisuian Pokémon can appear as Shiny.

Hisuian Sliggoo & Goodra

Every Hisuian Form In Pokémon Legends: Arceus (5)

Both Hisuian Sliggoo and Goodra are Steel- and Dragon-type as opposed to their original Dragon-type. These Hisuian forms both have large shells, but their color schemes are basically the same as their original forms. Sliggoo evolves from Goomy at level 40 and will evolve into Goodra at level 50 while it's raining.

Goomy and Sliggoo can be found in Crimson Mirelands and Coronet Highlands, and Goodra appears only in Coronet Highlands in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The combination of Steel- and Dragon-type make Sliggoo and Goodra strong against a variety of Pokémon, so they're good fighters to include on an offensive team.

Hisuian Qwilfish's New Evolution

Every Hisuian Form In Pokémon Legends: Arceus (6)

Hisuian Qwilfish is one of the new forms that have a completely new evolution in Arceus. Previously, Qwilfish was a blue and yellow Water- and Poison-type Pokémon and had no evolution line. In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Hisuian Qwilfish appears black and pink, it can evolve, and it changes to a Dark- and Poison-type Pokémon.

Qwilfish can be found in Obsidian Fieldlands and Cobalt Coastlands, and it evolves into the new Overqwil in Pokémon Legends: Arceus after using Barb Barrage in Strong Style 20 times. Overqwil is needed to complete "The Sea's Legend" Request, so obtaining a Hisuian Qwilfish and evolving it will be necessary for anyone looking to finish all of their Requests.

Hisuian Braviary Mount

Every Hisuian Form In Pokémon Legends: Arceus (7)

Hisuian Braviary changes from its original Normal- and Flying-type to become a Psychic- and Flying-type in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The Braviary in the Hisui region trades its red wings and tail for bright white, and the colors on its head are lighter as well. Both Rufflet and Braviary can be found in Alabaster Icelands.

Rufflet does not have a Hisuian version, but it will evolve into Hisuian Braviary at level 54. Although Hisuian Braviary can be caught, players will also use this Pokémon as the only flying mount in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and it becomes available through main story progression.

Hisuian Sneasel Can Evolve Into Sneasler

Hisuian Sneasel doesn't retain any of the original form's types, which were Ice- and Dark-type. The Hisuian Sneasel is Poison- and Fighting-type and evolves into Sneasler instead of Weavile. Sneasel is also the only Hisuian Pokémon that can also be found in its original form.

However, the original Sneasel will only appear in Space-Time Distortions. Similar to Hisuian Braviary, the Hisuian Sneasler is also one of the mounts unlocked in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Hisuian Sneasler allows players to climb up mountains and cliffs without slipping down the side.

Hisuian Lilligant

Every Hisuian Form In Pokémon Legends: Arceus (9)

Like Hisuian Growlithe and Arcanine, players will be introduced to Lilligant's Hisuian form while playing through the main story. The only way to obtain a Hisuian Lilligant in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is by evolving a Petilil using a Sun Stone. Petilil can be found in Crimson Mirelands and evolved at any level as long as players have a Sun Stone.

Lilligant's Hisuian appearance is drastically different from its original form, which had a bulbous lower half and a large orange flower on its head. Hisuian Lilligant in Pokémon Legends: Arceus also adds Fighting-type to its original Grass-type, making it a decent combination as long as it's not taking on Flying-type Pokémon.

Hisuian Avalugg

Every Hisuian Form In Pokémon Legends: Arceus (10)

Avalugg is originally just an Ice-type Pokémon, but the Hisuian version also adds Rock-type to it. The new type is reflected in the Pokémon's altered appearance which includes a rocky bottom half instead of being all ice. Hisuian Avalugg can be found in Alabaster Icelands or evolved from Bergmite at level 37. Along with Hisuian Lilligant, Growlithe, and Arcanine, Avalugg's new form will be involved in the main story, and a frenzied version will need to be defeated to progress through Alabaster Icelands in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Hisuian Zorua & Zoroark

Every Hisuian Form In Pokémon Legends: Arceus (11)

Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark are both Ghost- and Normal-type Pokémon instead of their original form's Dark-type. Instead of appearing black and red to match the Dark-type, the new Hisuian versions are white and red. Their fur is also whispy to reflect their change to Ghost-type. Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark can be found in Alabaster Icelands. Zorua will also evolve into Zoroark at level 30. Hisuian Zoroark is a strong non-Legendary Pokémon that players can add to their team toward the end of the main story in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

Hisuian Basculin Evolves Into A New Mount

Every Hisuian Form In Pokémon Legends: Arceus (12)

Unlike the other Hisuian Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Basculin's type and available moves don't change. The only differences from its original form are its appearance and the fact that it can evolve. Basculin is a Water-type Pokémon that can be found in Cobalt Coastlands, Coronet Highlands, and Alabaster Icelands in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

To evolve Hisuian Basculin into Basculegion, it will need to receive a total of 294 points of recoil damage in battle without fainting. Luckily, players will get Basculegion as a mount for story progression, so evolving a Hisuian Basculin is only necessary for completing the Pokédex entry.

    Summary:
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in the distant past as part of the Diamond and Pearl continuity; players are sent back in time after hearing from the creator of Pokemon, Arceus. Now in the Hsui region, known as Sinnoh in the future, the player meets with Professor Laventon, who assists them in getting settled in at Jubilife Village as they try to acclimate to their strange new life in the age of Pokemon centuries past. Arceus marks a significant departure in the Pokemon franchise, as players will engage more in battle with their Pokemon - trainers can even be attacked by wild Pokemon. Instead of instanced battles, players fight directly on the field, encountering them in the big open world, sharing many exploration similarities to games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
